Redeeming the Time

“The days in which we live are evil. The temptation is to sacrifice what is best for what is good.”
How are the days evil? The days are evil because our adversary the devil prowls about like a roaring lion…(I Peter 5:8), yet we are armed for warfare.
How do we live with this tension to sacrifice what is best for what is good…this challenge of choice between two good things?
One focus of thought is found in Philippians 1:21 and again in Philippians 3:8-11…the truth that Christ is gain; the value that all things can be counted as rubbish in order that we may gain Christ.
What are the non-negotiables in our lives as defined by Scripture? With clarity we can see the priority of our walk of faith.
Our activity must never replace adoration for our Redeemer.
Our recreation must never replace reflection on the grace of God through Christ.
Our possessions must never replace passion for the glory of God and the power of His gospel.
Our prayer each morning must include the plea that God would order our steps; that He would redeem our time; that He would establish the works of our hands. In this way we counter evil with the good of God.
