“We must remember that service to God is the greatest privilege we can receive in life.” (Blakaby)
And we receive this privilege through grace, as we are adopted as sons of God. Each of us can make the most of Christ as we live in grace; as we meditate intensely on the curse of the cross and how that curse led to our life of hope. It is this humility that calls me to serve; this desire to somehow give thanks. I was dead in my sin; incapable, marked as a child of wrath…and God being rich in mercy made me alive in Christ.
We serve because it makes complete sense; to not serve would be the response of an ingrate. In service I am not referring to ministry; I am simply referring to my life being a vessel through which people see Christ; that my mouth would be quick to speak the truth of God’s Word; that my hands would unwaveringly respond; that my mind would be ready to give a defense. Let us continue to encourage one another to love and good deeds, remaining confident in the power of God in our lives – that through all of our inadequacy, He alone is adequate.
“I will glory in my Redeemer;
My life He bought, my love He owns
I have no longings for another,
I’m satisfied in Him alone
I will glory in my Redeemer,
His faithfulness my standing place
Though foes are mighty and rush upon me
My feet are firm, held by His grace
My feet are firm, held by His grace.”
