Changed Thru Meditation

The title of today's devotion implies that I have taken the time to spend with God, but also reflected and pondered on what He has to teach me to the extent where I become more Christ-like thru change.
If we are to have more than just a head knowledge of God's scripture and stories, we truly must allow it to become personal with us-a heart knowledge that is revealed in our actions and deeds.
As an undergraduate student @ WKU, I was pastored by a gentleman who was a teaching professor in WKU's religion department-Dr. William Lane. This Christian man truly embodied the Christian walk. I've never forgotten one of Dr. Lane's sayings "Master scripture and let scripture master you." He was saying that it was not enough to know your scripture or Bible-but to live it. And how many times am I guilty of dutifully doing my readings and study-only to check it off my list of "things to do," without spending that time to meditate and truly learning what it is God has to say to me.
When we allow God's word to touch the depth of our hearts, not just our heads, can we have that life-changing transformation that makes us into the image of Jesus.
