"Without faith it is impossible to please God" (Heb.11:6)
I had the privilege and opportunity of going to South Africa in 2005 for 2 weeks on a LHBC-sponsored mission trip. To say that God was @ work prior to, during, and since that trip is an understatement. And faith has, and still plays an immense factor in the decisions that have been made and the work that has and will be done as a result of that trip.
We served more than 60 missionaries/families that were all living away from their U.S. home on the African continent. What a blessing to talk with these servants as their love and faith for God exuded in their conversation. And all had truly developed a love for their new home of Africa and its people.
The faith exhibited by these missionaries to leave America and their extended families and friends was amazing. The shared stories of being able to buy cars, seeking medical treatment in Africa, education for their children, etc. were all a concern-but ultimately left in the hands of the Almighty. Their faith in God-and faithfulness to His call had brought them to this time and place. And their commitment to His task was ever stronger.
A side story was developing while on this mission trip. Many of the Living Hopers did not realize that our own Mark and Parker Phillips(also on this mission trip) had been wrestling with God's call to go to Africa as full-time missionaries. What a great confirmation this trip was for them!
Now almost 3 years later, what a joy to see and hear Mark and Parker(and the new bundle of joy to be)and hear of their missionary journey. All as a result of responding in faith to the call God put before them.
What about my/your faith? Is it growing? Have you exercised your faith in what God is calling you to do? in your daily decisions? God states that He can rekindle the spark of faith and rebuild it into a "roaring fire." If you feel as though only a spark of faith remains in you, ask God to rekindle a blazing fire of commitment in your heart to Him.
