Without the laws of God

“Without the laws of God, you would be robbed of the delights God has in store for you.”

So often we consider laws to be limiting, restrictive, binding to our personal freedom and our reaction is either passive indifference or outright rebellion. Blakaby rightly calls this sin. In contrast, to see the laws of God as a source of delight is only possible by knowing and trusting in the heart of God. Do I truly believe that God knows and desires what is best for me in light of His glory? Do I trust Him explicitly to provide a frame for my life that will result in His glory? When we answer these questions with an unwavering “yes”, we can remain confident and comfortable in the Laws of God. God’s true Word is our protection; our source of wisdom; our mode of spiritual attack; our foundation for choice; our hedge from evil…the very reflection of the mind of God. Instead of resisting, let us embrace and delight in the eternal laws of God, hiding them within our heart, studying them with diligence, living them as a testimony of grace, and treasuring them as the heart and mind of our eternal Father.
